You studied hard, took a driving course (or learned from a family member, friend, or a video game), worked on parallel parking, stopping and starting on a hill, and you learned the rules that the government has implemented to keep all of its citizens safe while driving together on the road. You practiced your driving skills until they became second nature. Now you are an experienced driver, or are you?

HOW YOU DRIVE RIGHT NOW IS NOW THE DRIVING STYLE that works for you, and maybe for others, although it may scare them to death, it is Your driving style.

Then a funny thing happens to you as you get comfortable with your driving style as you get older, your driving skills start to get sloppy, to get old, to get lazy, and partially disrespectful.

  • You don’t make full stops at stop signs anymore.
  • You speed up for orange (warning) lights, and speed through red lights, just to save some lost time that we think we need.
  • You are driving too slow, or too fast.
  • Driving too close to the car in front of you, or beside you.
  • Cutting off drivers, or not letting drivers merge in front of you.

I was once told that driving is a privilege, and I should never take it for granted. Respect the other people on the road. You do not know what problems they are going through today.

People’s sloppy driving style makes them less effective drivers. When they are not following all of the rules that were designed to keep them safe on the road, they are placing themselves in a higher percentage for being in an accident.

Just like your driving skills may have got lazy over the years, maybe your sales skills and sales styles have gotten lazy, old, and needs to be fixed, or updated?

When you first got into the sales arena, you read a sales book, took a sales course, or attended a weekend sales training conference, and then put you and your family’s livelihoods in this two-day course, or book, or video, and…you then took your short-lived enthusiasm, and your newfound education, and started your journey into the sales arena.
